assessments

I was wondering if anyone has any ready made assessments I could give the teachers to track their students or get a grade on reading and math?

Our district uses AIMsWeb to benchmark and progress monitor in math and reading.

I will look into it but, if we have to pay for it they will say no we have no money.

      Thank you

        Hi Joyce-

Getting money for programs and initiatives is a huge challenge.  We started the Finding Funding Community to get ideas for funding, I can ask over in that community how people may have been able to secure funds for assessments.  Or maybe Katie Owen would share how her school found the money?

I have found some very interesting and innovative ways that teachers and schools have worked to pay for things.  Let's see what we come up with!

With a firm understanding of the standard(s) being taught, a teacher can create his/her own formative and summative assessments. Sample assessments may be available on state web sites too. If you are looking at progress monitoring of reading, writing and math the use of fluency tools can work well. All such tools are available for free on the internet.  A teacher does need to know how to score them though. Hope this helps.

            Hi Joyce,

I hope you are able to find what you're looking for in the following links and info:

For federal grants, many resources are available on Ed.gov.

For state grants, see your state department of education website for information on grant competitions.

To search for foundation grants, consider The Foundation Center, where information is organized by name, state, or philanthropic interest.

Please let us know how it goes.

            Thanks,

            Danielle

I use fluency assessments in reading, writing and math to measure progress and they can be used for grades as well. Assessments are available on line for free. The teacher does need to know how to score the fluencies and determine the best way to apply grades to them.
